About Chout

Chout is a hard rock band from South Chicago, IL, originally formed in 2018 by lead vocalist Brendan Maier, guitarist Matt Morgan, bassist Rocco Gilsdorf, and drummer Joel Martinez. Being childhood friends since elementary school, the four musicians truly are a band of brothers. Having been writing songs since the age of 13, the band has drawn influences from all realms of the music spectrum, while remaining faithful to the 90’s influence. Chout combines both classic metal riffs and modern, upbeat songwriting, with a new progressive sound.

Chout has continued to gain both national (U.S.) & international attention and a constant growing fan base over the last two years. Chout lead singer, Brendan Maier, has been compared to the vocal doppelganger of the late Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) and the band has received media attention, with write-ups in articles by Loudwire, Metal Sucks, & Metal Injection among others. With lead guitarist Matt Morgan, bassist Rocco Gilsdorf & drummer Joel Martinez, the band has created a unique, edgy sound that can at times be reminiscent of 90s rock & grunge.

Upon the departure of Brendan Maier from the band in the Spring of 2020, Matt Morgan stepped up to assume the role of lead vocalist and the band added guitarist Matt Baron.
