Slimtronic5k Unveils His Most Intense Release Yet: “Smoke & Mirrors” — Out September 25th with Release Party at Sugarshack Downtown

Bonita Springs, FL – September 17, 2025 – Slimtronic5k is breaking new ground with his latest single Smoke & Mirrors, dropping September 25th across all streaming platforms. To celebrate, Slimtronic5k & The Rebellion will take the stage at Sugarshack Downtown, the iconic live music venue and restaurant in Bonita Springs, FL, for an exclusive release party performance.

Billed as “Outlaw Blues”—a bold mashup of blues, soul, outlaw country, Americana, and a touch of hip-hop—Slimtronic5k has carved out a sound that’s entirely his own. As the frontman explains, “We don’t know what we’re doing, so let’s just make something up.” What started as a search for a perfect genre became the invention of one. Behind the scenes, producer Caleb Neff (Rosaline, Juniper Recording Studio) keeps this musical rebellion on course while Slimtronic5k delivers vocals that feel equal parts desperate, determined, and unrestrained.

A Song Born from Struggle

Smoke & Mirrors isn’t just another single—it’s Slimtronic5k’s rawest confession to date.

“I have struggled with addiction and substance abuse since I was about fifteen years old,” Slimtronic5k shares. “This song reflects my lifelong journey toward sobriety, which I’m now so close to achieving. Writing it was intense because it forced me to confront my issues head-on and forge a genuine path to the recovery I desperately seek.”

For him, writing honestly is non-negotiable: “I believe it’s important for people to be authentic about their struggles. Too often, we hide our hurt, pain, and perceived ‘problems’ when, in reality, we’re all facing similar challenges. I don’t want anyone to look at me and assume I’ve got my life together—I’m just as much of a steaming pile of hot garbage juice as the next guy. I want you to know that so that you can be real with me and we can grow together.”

The title itself reflects years of illusion and hidden battles. “At times, I’ve stared down my struggles with shame and hidden them as best I could. But that only robs people of knowing the real me and steals my chance at true, authentic relationships. I’m tired of concealing my flaws; now I embrace them—inviting others to see me and offer help in any way they can.”

Collaboration That Redefined His Sound

The track’s unique sound was shaped through a powerful collaboration between Slimtronic5k, Caleb Neff, and Connor James.

“Working with Conner and Caleb in a collaborative effort was truly inspiring. These two are hidden gems in the production world. I brought the song to Caleb, who helped me refine the chorus—the heartbeat of the track. After cutting an acoustic demo, Conner took it and ran, nailing the country-hip-hop vibe I’d been chasing for this track.”

Sessions stretched from Blackbird Recording Studio in Nashville—with contributions from Jimmy Wallace (Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band) and Stanton Edward (The Wallflowers)—to Juniper Recording in Ft. Myers, FL, where Mr. Better Now (Donny Seabrook) dropped a verse that tied everything together.

The collaboration with Mr. Better Now carries its own unlikely backstory. “Ironically, I met Mr. Better Now while buying drugs,” Slimtronic5k recalls. “He shared his journey to sobriety, and I felt both jealous and inspired. After checking out his music and soaking up his positive vibes, I knew he was the perfect person to not only feature on the track but to have in my life. Since that day, we’ve become good friends, and we’re planning to collaborate on an album together under a new project name.”

Alongside the radio-ready version, Slimtronic5k insisted on releasing a stripped-back acoustic take: “While the radio version captures the intensity of the battle within me—with many layers converging as one—the acoustic version conveys the isolation and loneliness that come from hiding your struggles and facing them alone. I feel this version captures that experience in a way that’s raw and real.”

Music as Survival

For Slimtronic5k, music isn’t just art—it’s therapy.

“Like DJ Faithless said, ‘This is my church… this is where I heal my hurts…’ While I’m in psychiatric treatment and intense therapy, the deepest healing still comes from sitting down, facing my daily life, and writing about it. Part of that helps me be better understood, but a bigger part is that it lets me process my emotions and release them into the world—so the right help can find me.”

It’s a healing process rooted in decades of performance. “I’ve been playing music for almost 40 years, and I’ve played professionally since 1998. I can’t even begin to tell you how much healing that’s brought me over the decades.”

He hopes Smoke & Mirrors will resonate with others facing their own demons: “I hope people realize they’re not alone—that nearly everyone in their lives is grappling with their own shortcomings. You’re not dirty, you’re not broken, you’re not a bad person. We all deal with this stuff. But healing happens when we talk about it, hold each other accountable, and grow together.”

Looking Ahead

Written during a brutal relapse, the song marks a turning point in Slimtronic5k’s recovery. “I wrote this song while detoxing from a severe relapse—after drinking a large bottle of liquor every day for months. Writing it helped me stop drinking and regain control over my alcohol abuse. Conquering that battle showed me I can tackle my other issues, too. This song gave me immense hope that I can reach my goal of owning my life as best I can.”

Musically, it also signals a new direction. “This song represents a huge departure from what I’m known for. While it still carries those ‘outlaw blues’ undertones, blending a more mainstream country vibe with hip-hop beats and rap reveals a far more versatile side of me. Despite what some might believe, I’m not a one-trick pony. My bag of tricks runs deep, and I’m excited to show there’s much more to me than meets the eye.”

And fans won’t have to wait long for more. “While we were at Blackbird in Nashville, we also tracked my new record, White Trash Royalty, set to release in spring 2026. This album better defines my current ‘sound’ and features some of my favorite songs I’ve ever written… I’m so excited to release this new record and almost even more pumped to dive back into the studio for my fourth solo album, already in pre-production.”
